SHOWTIME 2015!

The Showtime Spectacular is a bi-annual performance put on by the 10 schools who make up the  Nambucca Valley Community of Public Schools. There is an enormous amount of effort that goes into each performance by each school from composition, arrangement, choreography and costumes - and the sheer grunt work of rehearsal. It's all worth it though, because every two years, the Valley's public schools put on an amazing show.

For 2015, Medlow students, working with Terry Simpson (music), Sarah Landers and Tia Perry (dance) put together a music/dance mash up of Walk Right In and The Clap Song. The school was separated into dancers (Tiahn, Taryn, Willow, Amali, Anna, Bree, Lauren and Amelia), musicians (Nick, Lehman, Jamie and Alani) and singers (Alani, Claire and Wren).

The band, Jamie on drums, Lehman on bass, Nick on guitar and Alani on the keyboard, practiced daily for months to get the sound just right.

The singers learnt the techniques of good singing, had ear training and practiced every day to learn the words and sing in tune.

The dancers learnt the dance moves, had gorgeous costumes specially made for them by Lorraine Laverty and rehearsed daily to get their moves right.

The big day arrived - and boy, was it a big day! All the children spent the entire day in at Macksville High School for rehearsals, and then stayed on under the care of Sarah Landers, Terry Simpson and Jane Wood, waiting for the show to begin. Luckily for them, they had the staff common room to use complete with kitchenette, bathroom, lounges and an interactive whiteboard!

They performed well, wowed the audience and did our school proud. Well done Medlow!
